Rival groups exchange fire in Kohat; 2 dead

Staff Report

KOHAT: Two people were killed and three more, including a local ANP office bearer, were injured when two rival groups exchanged fire during a road opening ceremony in Kohat on Wednesday, police said.

The police said that ANP District President Saeed Shah and his wife Khurshid Begum were busy in a ceremony regarding opening of a newly-built road when an armed clash took place between two groups.

As a result, two persons, Fida Muhammad and Abdul Matin, died on the spot while Saeed Shah and two others were wounded.

Those wounded were shifted to a local KDA Hospital. Saeed Shah, whose condition was said to be critical, was referred to Peshawar.

Police say they have started a probe in the firing incident. SAMAA
