Asma urges Nawaz to end political deadlock

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of lawyers led by Asma Jehangir, former President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), today met with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and called for ending the ongoing political deadlock for the sake of democracy.

Jehangir urged Mian Nawaz Sharif to end the current state of political deadlock and let the democracy remain on track.

Nawaz Sharif, on the other hand, blamed the rulers for the deadlock.

The former SCBA chief agreed with Nawaz Sharif’s views on poor policies of the federal government. Jehangir said she too was in favour of early elections.

“We didn’t want to create the deadlock. Political issues will be resolved through political ways,” Nawaz said.

Calling for early polls under an impartial Election Commission, Nawaz said establishment or secret hands would be stopped in the next elections.

The delegation invited Nawaz Sharif to attend an all-party conference. SAMAA
