Somali pirates’ deadline to expire in 24 hours: CPLC

ISLAMABAD: The deadline set by Somali pirates for payment of ransom to secure release of Pakistani hostages is about expire in 24 hours, CPLC said Tuesday.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad has assured payment of the demanded ransom before the expiry of deadline.

CPLC chief Ahmed Chinnoy said Somali pirates have refused to extend the deadline.

They threatened to kill the hostages if the ransom was not paid in 24 hours, he said.

The pirates have demanded Rs320 million in ransom for the release of 22 Pakistanis being kept hostage.

Chinnoy said they are yet to collect Rs130 million. SAMAA
