ISLAMABAD: Former army chief General (retd) Aslam Baig on Wednesday denied his role in funds distribution among politicians, and held ISI responsible for the political funding in 1970, SAMAA reports.
The former army chief submitted his statement to the Supreme Court when it resumed the hearing of Asghar Ali Khan case today.
“Neither me as an army chief nor the army was involved in fund distribution to politicians. However, ISI is responsible for it since it was not under the army at that time, therefore, the responsibility solely rests with then ISI chief Asad Durrani,” Baig said in a statement.
He said that the money was in ISI’s account and Durrani distributed the fund on presidential orders.
Before adjourning the case till tomorrow, the court ordered Aslam Baig to submit his account details. SAMAA
