KARACHI: The poorly managed operation against the miscreants in Lyari fizzled out but with heavy losses of lives and finances to police, SAMAA reports.
After the law-enforcers wrapped up their operation, Lyari resounded with the loud rings of firing followed by no injuries or fatalities.
The sources said the anti-criminal crackdown collapsed in eight days as five policemen including SHO were killed and 20 others including two DSPs injured. Also, 20 innocent citizens lost their lives in the mayhem.
In contrast, police claimed to have killed 8 miscreants and arrested 27 others; but, the people whose head-money were announced, are still at large strolling hale and hearty.
According to sources, anti-mafia operation was kick-started without appropriate groundwork, as only three entry points of Lyari were manned; while the remaining 56 exits and entrance points were left unattended.
The grand operation against multiple mafias operating from the area, left in its trails various gaping questions.
Why were no preparations at all were made?
Why nearly all exits and entry points were ignored?
What will ensue now?
Why were the sacrifices of police and citizens were given?
Will the miscreants who hurled bombs, hand grenade, rockets at police to heap up misery and killings, be allowed to move scot-free? SAMAA
