Halt Lyari action: Rehman; No orders received: SSP Aslam

Staff Report
KARACHI: The SSP of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh police, Chaudhry Aslam Friday said he has not received any orders to halt the Lyari operation.

Talking to SAMAA TV, the Senior Superintendent of Sindh Police (SSP) said the crackdown on the miscreants is currently in progress and today they will launch fresh incursion into the area.

It should be mentioned here that Federal Interior Minister Rehman A. Malik announced today to bring a temporary halt to Lyari operation with 72-hour ultimatum to the mischief-mongers to surrender to the state.

The sources said the CID’s anti-terrorism unit alone is out in crackdown on miscreants in Lyari, adding CID’s investigation operation personnel are not partaking in the action despite clear-cut directives from high-ups.

Meantime, the formidable heat wave in the city is causing mounting problems to the police personnel settled in armored personnel carriers (APCs). SAMAA
