KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC), issuing notices to Sindh Home Department, Inspector General of Sind Police (IGP) and SSP of the CID on Friday, sought reply on a plea against Lyari operation.
The SHC’s division bench consisting of Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Mehmood Akhtar, hearing the plea filed by Advocate Salahud Din Gandapur, issued notices seeking reply on May 8 from high police officials including Sindh police chief Mushtaq Shah and SSP of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh police overseeing Lyari action.
Gandapur requested the court to immediately hear the case. The petitioner is of the view that Lyari operation is causing immense troubles to common citizens; hence, the operation should instantly be stayed.
Seeking an immediate judicial order against Lyari operation, the plea furthermore states it is legally a crime to hold citizens hostages; accordingly, the illegitimate operation should summarily be discontinued. SAMAA
