ISLAMABAD: Amid opposition’s vehement protest in the National Assembly, the ruling PPP presented resolutions in the lower house, Sindh Assembly and Azad Jammu Kashmir’s Legislative Assembly, which were adopted by the houses with simple majority, SAMAA reports.
With government claiming that the lawmakers have reposed confidence in Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani after his conviction, the enraged members of opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz condemn the presentation of resolutions, protesting and agitating against the move.
PML-N lawmakers in the NA left their seats, chanted slogans against the government in front of Speaker Fehmida Mirza, creating uproar in the house when it adopted resolution of formation of a new province in South Punjab.
PML-N’s Leader of the Opposition in NA, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan condemned what he called hasty presentation of resolution, saying that “it has no worth”.
Meanwhile, another resolution was presented in the house to repose confidence in PM Gilani, applauding him over “defending the democracy and upholding the Constitution.”
