ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to bring a privilege motion against the Assistant Registrar of Supreme Court, terming his letter for action on contempt of court ruling as an insult to the Parliament.
The government has also ordered a probe into the issue.
Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said Nawaz Sharif wants to influence the apex courts’ detailed judgment through his aggressive statements.
Addressing a joint press conference in the capital city of Islamabad with Kaira, Law Minister Farooq H. Naek said there should be no misunderstanding that Yousuf Raza Gilani is still the Prime Minister despite the court’ verdict while cabinet is not going anywhere.
The law minister said there is no such order in the short judgment. The Assistant Registrar has insulted the Parliament by writing a letter for necessary action.
Naek said it is the Speaker’s prerogative to send a reference against the Prime Minister and Supreme Court has also accepted it. SAMAA
