Nine gunned down, several hurt in Quetta firing incidents

Staff Report

QUETTA: Incidents of targeted killings continued in Quetta on Saturday as nine more people were gunned down and several others injured in three armed attacks at different areas of Quetta, SAMAA reports.

In the first incident, police said unknown armed men riding two motorbikes intercepted at yellow cab and opened indiscriminate fires on it at Barori road of the city, killing seven people.

According to officials, six people onboard the car died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The attack also left few others injured.

Two other incidents took place in Shalkot and Sabzal road areas of the city where miscreants gunned down two people, injuring three others.

Those dead and injured were shifted to Bolan Medical Complex where infuriated heirs of victims, resorting to aerial firing, setting on fire several vehicles in protest against the killings.

Police and security failed to respond to the rioters who vandalized BMC premises after the Barori road incident.

Despite ‘strict’ security measures, as claimed by the government, the attackers easily managed to flee.

The rogue elements also resorted to aerial firing in different parts of Quetta, sowing fright and panic in residents.

With reign of terror and bloodshed, the restive Balochistan’s capital witnessed the worst day on Saturday as nine people list their lives in target killings.

The sectarian violence in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan and Gilgit has claimed hundreds of lives in a month. SAMAA

Our only request to media is to be sincere. Media is not taking much interest to report on target killings in Quetta. The whole society is corrupt and are with these coward culprits, at least we expect media to play its role. Otherwise you all are equally accountable as those who are behind these attacks. If a single person is gunned in others parts of Pakistan, we witness full coverage of the situation fallowed by discussions. Hazara community in Quetta need your help, please be honest with your profession.
