ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Thursday suggested the government to keep the petroleum product prices unchanged for the month of March by dropping petroleum levy, however, otherwise the same would likely be raised by Rs.8.94 a liter, reports SAMAA.
Ogra-sent summary to Petroleum Ministry recommended keeping the POL prices unchanged by dropping petroleum levy but the federal government will have to provide relief worth Rs.7 billion in this case.
It is also worth mentioning that disobeying the orders of Petroleum Ministry; the provinces have not yet shown agreement to provide their share in the overall subsidy on POL prices. Due to financial difficulties, the federal government finds it hard to hand down relief to masses in terms of dropping petroleum levy.
The final decision on the increase or unchanged prices of POL would be taken on March 31 after the finance ministry-prime minister meeting. SAMAA
