Lahore: Anti-loadshedding protestors vandalize LESCO office

Staff Report

LAHORE: Riots against prolonged power outages in key Punjab cities are tuning violent with the passage of every single day as people in Lahore and Faisalabad continued their protest on Tuesday.

The protestors who came on roads in Lahore against the load-shedding ransacked the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) office in Ichhra area on Tuesday, destroying all documental record and other government properties within the building premises.

The outages-stricken demonstrators later set on fire power equipments of the company, venting their anger over 20-hour long power cuts.

The infuriated mob also vandalized traffic signals, with police playing role of a silent spectator.

Also, protestors in Faisalabad ran amok, burning tyres on roads, blocking main roads, including on the Motorway, and getting shops and main markets closed down in different areas. SAMAA
