PHC summons Hayatabad SHO for illegal assets

Staff Report

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) Tuesday issued summon to the Stationed House Officer (SHO) Hayatabad police station on charges of possessing illegal properties worth millions of rupees and for running three alleged torture cells in different areas of Peshawar, reports SAMAA.

Hearing the case of torture on a youth and illegal detention, Chief Justice PHC Dost Mohammed remarked that SHO Hayatabad police station Rajab Ali was found guilty of inflicting illegal torture on innocent people, adding that the latter is running three torture cells to serve this purpose in different areas of the provincial capital.

Not just this, the CJ’s remarks continued, the accused also owns more than one dozen expensive vehicles as well as four banglows/mansions. PHC Tuesday issued summon to the accused Rajab Ali and ordered him to close down illegal detention chambers and alleged torture cells as well.

Simultaneously, the honorable court issued directives to Director General NAB to submit report on the corruption and illegal assets of accused SHO within one month.

SHO Rajab Ali has declined to comment on the court’s proceedings and subsequent orders however, the kingpin of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force also do not seem serious to rise to the gravity of this issue. SAMAA
