Interior Minister orders crackdown on extortionists

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The government has ordered crackdown on extortionist mafia operating in Karachi, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Saturday.

Speaking to newsmen in the federal capital, the Interior Minister claimed 29 extortionists had been apprehended in Karachi.

Malik said cases under anti-terrorism acct would be registered against people found guilty of using stolen mobile phones.

A public campaign, he said, would be launched soon for the elimination of extortion and terrorism.

"Altaf Hussain is a sensible politician, who, at the request of President Asif Ali Zardari, ended his party’s boycott to the joint session of the Parliament," added Malik. SAMAA
