Malik, Mukhtar may swap ministries, as new cabinet comes on anvil

Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The government is giving finishing touches to the re-shuffle of the federal cabinet in sync with its coalition partner, SAMAA reports Tuesday.

There are reports that the ministries of interior, information and law and justice will receive their new bosses as a result of current brainstorming.

The sources privy to the inner circles of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) confirmed to SAMAA reporter Sanaullah that the consultations are in progress for the reshuffle of federal cabinet in the wake of joint Parliament address by President Asif Ali Zardari.

According to sources, Federal Interior Minister Rehman A. Malik will be winched from Interior to lead defence ministry and Ahmed Mukhtar will function as federal Interior Minister.

The sources revealed to SAMAA that Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan will be replaced by Qamar Zaman Kaira as federal minister, adding some other names are also on table of discussion to be given new portfolios.

The Law Ministry is looking at Farooq H. Naek, Aitezaz Ahsan or Mian Raza Rabbani to take charge as the next chief.

The sources disclosed that some new names are being contemplated upon to be inducted in the fresh cabinet. SAMAA
