Six dead in new Yemen raids on Qaeda

ADEN: Yemeni planes carried out raids on suspected Al-Qaeda positions in the southern province of Abyan on Saturday, killing six militants, a local official said.

The new raids followed overnight air strikes on suspected Al-Qaeda camps in central Yemen that local officials said killed 27 recruits and wounded 55. Residents said those raids were carried out by US warplanes.

Positions near Jaar, 12 kilometres (seven miles) from the militant-held town of Zinjibar, were targeted in the latest strikes, the sources said. AGENCIES
