ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC), taking notice of incident of manhandling by Wahida Shah, a candidate of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the by-elections, summoned her to appear before the court on March 2, SAMAA reports Wednesday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry took notice on a letter by DMG woman officer and issued notices to Wahida Shah, Inspector General of Sindh Police and Election Commission officials to appear on March 2.
It should be mentioned here the PPP candidate slapped a woman presiding officer in PS-53 Tando Muhammed Khan during the voting of by-elections. After the incident was aired by the TV channels, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) held back the official notification of her victory.
Meantime, protest demos were held by various organizations in Multan against Wahida Shah and with people raising slogans against her. The demonstrators demanded the government to make arrangements to stop such people from entering the assemblies.
