KARACHI: Great Urdu literary personality Ibn-e-Insha is being remembered on his death anniversary today (Wednesday).
Nazr-ul-Islam was born in Calcutta in 1939.
He started his film career as an editor in Dhaka in the early 60’s. After making some films in the Bengali language, he directed his maiden Urdu film in 1966 called Kajal.
After the fall of East Pakistan, he shifted to Lahore and directed some of the most successful films in the 70’s and 80’s.
The most successful Urdu film in Pakistan’s cine history Aaina (1977) was directed by Nazr-ul-Islam. His other successful films include Ahsaas (1972), Sharafat (1974), Ambar (1979), Bandish (1980), Nahin Abhi Nahin (1980), Do Deewane (1982) and Kalay Chor (1991).
He died in Lahore on 11thJanuary 1994 and was buried there as well. SAMAA
