Federal cabinet grants India MFN status

Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet Wednesday approved for neighboring India status of Most Favored Nation (MFN) for bilateral trade. The cabinet also directed to boost trade ties with the neighboring country.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani is currently presiding over the meeting with the federal cabinet which was previously briefed by Federal Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim over Pak-India bilateral trade links.

Makhdoom Amin Fahim took the cabinet in confidence over his upcoming India visit.

According to sources, the federal cabinet directed the concerned authorities to take up measures to boost trade volume with India.

Meantime, the cabinet, holding Fateha Khawni for Begum Nusrat Bhutto, termed her services for democracy as incomparable.

Today’s session is also expected to approve the draft of 20th Amendment in the Constitution.

Under the bill, pension for the widows of the deceased judges hailing from Supreme Court (SC) and high courts will be raised from 50 to 75 percent. SAMAA
