Shoaib Malik recalled for tour of Zimbabwe

Staff Report

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recalled senior player Shoaib Malik for the upcoming tour to Zimbabwe, starting this month.

In a statement issued today, PCB said Malik has been added to the squad for the Zimbabwean tour.  He will join the training camp from today, it said.

His inclusion came less than a week he was cleared by PCB’s Integrity Committee to represent Pakistan again.

Malik, who has played 32 Tests and 192 one-day internationals, last played for Pakistan in England last year.

Chief Selector Mohsin Khan said that Malik’s inclusion would strengthen the squad comprising mostly young players. “His experience will be beneficial for the team,” he said.

Pakistan’s tour to Zimbabwe will start on August 28. Misbah ul Haq’s men will play one Test match, three one-day internationals (ODI) and two Twenty20 Internationals.

On Saturday, some media reports suggested that coach Waqar Younis resigned from the post over non-inclusion of Malik in the team for the tour to African nation. SAMAA
