ISLAMABAD: All serving PCO judges will be considered retired since April 20, 2010, the day when 18th Amendment was approved, said Supreme Court of Pakistan in its verdict, announced today, over PCO judges’ intra-court appeals, SAMAA reported on Wednesday.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry announced court’s that verdict, on PCO judges’ intra-court appeals, which was reserved by a seven-member bench of Supreme Court on April 4.
Supreme Court has rejected appeals of six PCO judges including Justice Yasmin Abbasi of Sindh High Court, Justice Shabbar Raza Rizvi, Justice Hasnat Ahmad Khan, Justice Hamid Ali Shah, and Justice Sajjad Hussain Shah of Lahore High Court and Justice Jahanzeb Rahim of Peshawar High Court.
The court will also take action, under contempt of court, against already retired ex Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry.
These PCO judges filed intra-court appeals in the Supreme Court against February 2, 2010 ruling of court against them. SAMAA
