Cricket players including Afridi arrive in Pakistan

Staff Report
KARACHI: National cricket team, after playing ICC World Cup semi-final against India, arrived in Pakistan in the wee hours of Friday from India.

Three team members including skipper Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq arrived at Karachi airport, where the national players were accorded warm reception with full-throated slogans.

Adviser to the CM Rashid Rabbani and coordinator Waqar Mehdi were also among a large number of cricket fans, who turned up at the airport to welcome their cricket heroes.

The players were received with rousing slogans including Pakistan Zindabad and Boom Boom Afridi.

Talking to media at the airport, Shahid Afridi said he was proud of his team, adding the team needed a good coach in batting.

The players from all provinces play in the team and all are united, he asserted saying all especially bowlers displayed good performance.

On this occasion, Afridi thanked media and the people of Pakistan for their complete support to the national cricket team throughout the world largest cricket event.  (Last updated at 0630) SAMAA
