MOHALI: Hundreds of cricket lovers were baton charged by police outside Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on Monday as they were protesting the unavailability of tickets for the second semifinal between Pakistan and India on March 30.
The protesting fans chanted slogans against the police and hurled stones at them when they were baton charged.
According to Indian media, several fans, including women, were wounded.
Agencies add: Angry fans hurled stones and clashed with police outside the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on Monday in the runup to Wednesday's India-Pakistan Cricket World Cup semi-final.
Police on horseback tried to control crowds and a Reuters witness said seven people were arrested and taken away in a police van. SAMAA
