US Consulate again refuses to hand over wanted driver, car

Staff Report

LAHORE: The US Consulate in Lahore on Tuesday again refused to hand over wanted driver and car involved in crushing of a Pakistani, Ebad-ur-Rehman, while trying to rescue Raymond Davis who gunned down two other Pakistanis under mysterious circumstances in the busy area of Muzzang on January 27 in Punjab’s provincial capital.

Following instructions of the Punjab Government, Civil Lines’ Superintendent of Police, Investigations, Malik Liaqat went to US Consulate in Lahore today and demanded to hand over wanted driver and car but American Consulate’s officials refused the demand and asked the police to return back empty handed.

After hearing refusal of the consulate officials, the SP Investigations handed them over a letter describing that this was 6th attempt of the police investigation team to get wanted driver and car but failed to get any cooperation from the officials of the consulate.

The SP Investigation has sent its letter’s copies to the US Embassy in Pakistan and the Interior Ministry as well. SAMAA
