Administrators replace Nazims in Balochistan

QUETTA: Local government system of Pervez Musharraf was abolished in Balochistan and District Coordination Officers have been empowered to work as administrators and notification to that effect has been issued.

According to the notification authorities of administrators have been transferred to the DCOs of all districts and TMOs have been given the powers of administrators for Tehsil Nazims.

First of all suggestion for the abolition of local government system of Pervez Musharraf came from Balochistan and summary to that effect was sent to federal government.

All the provinces adopted system of administrators earlier but notification to that effect was issued for Balochistan on Friday.

There were differences between Provincial political parties about the appointment of administrators in Balochistan.

JUI stated that non-official s should be made the administrators but the suggestion of JUI for appointment of administrators was opposed by other political parties.

Finally, it was agreed that powers of administrators should be given to DCOs and notification was issued to that effect.SAMAA
