Upadated on: 22 Feb 10 07:38 PM
Staff Report

BEIJING: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Monday that he is optimistic about the upcoming secretary-level talks between Pakistan and India. However, the result of dialogue depends on the Indian approach.

Talking to media in Beijing during his four-day visit to China, Qureshi said that Pakistan-India relations cannot progress without a composite dialogue.

He further said that bilateral talks were in favor of both the countries but India had suspended the process after the Mumbai attacks.

About his meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister and Prime Minsiter Wen Jiabao, Qureshi told that the meetings discussed bilateral affairs while regional situation also came under discussion.

He termed the Taliban commander Abdul Ghani Barader’s arrest ‘an important victory’.

He also invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Pakistan. SAMAA
