PPP, MQM reach consensus on administrators

KARACHI: Pakistan People's Party and Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) reached consensus on the issue of the appointment of the administrators on Monday.
The sources told SAMAA that former secretary Lala Fazal-ur-Rehman would be appointed as administrator in Karachi while Sajjad Abbasi would be appointed as administrator in Hyderabad.
PPP and MQM have prepared amended legal document and the ordinance would be issued on the matter by Governor Sindh qafter being signed by Chief Minister Sindh.
The legal committee consisting of PPP and MQM held meeting in chief minister house in Karachi. Imtiaz Sheikh from PML-F also participated in the meeting.
Sindh Minister for Local Governments Aga Siraj Durrani and MQM leader Raza Haroon and Dr Sagheer Ahmed also held meeting after Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad after the meeting of the legal committee.
The final shape was given to the names of administrators to be appointed in Karachi and Hyderabad in the meeting.
On the other side, Imtiaz Sheikh and Dr Karim Meher met Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and asked him to appoint administrators with the advice of PML-F in five districts of Sindh and and 24 talukas in Sindh.
ORDINANCE TO REMOVE LEGAL FLAWS IN AMENDED LG BILL
An ordinance will be issued to remove legal flaws in the Amended Local Government Bill. The decision was taken in a meeting between the leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) at Governor House, Karachi.
According to the sources, the ordinance will be issued today and there is a possibility that the administrators will be appointed today (Monday).
The meeting was attended by Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah along with Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghori, Adil Siddique, Raza Haroon, Syed Sardar Ahmed from MQM and Pir Mazharul Haq, Agha Siraj Durrani, Ayaz Soomro, Murad Ali Shah, and Rashid Rabbani from PPP side.
The participants agreed upon the appointment of administrators in local government bodies after mutual consultation.
According to the sources, the participants also discussed amendments in the Local Government law and the situation arising from Local Government department's notification. SAMAA
