Upadated on: 27 Jan 10 09:53 PM
Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: There is no threat to the democratic system in the country, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said while addressing the Parliament Wednesday.

All the institutions are working in its limits. Parliament, judiciary and executive are efficiently performing its duties, he added.

The government respects the judiciary and its verdict on the NRO. The government would appoint new Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) with the consultation of the opposition parties, he added.

The government is responsible to safeguard the constitution of the country. The government is ready to open the Swiss cases. The government would surely vanish the 17th amendment, he added.

PM Gilani said “I ask one question from the parliament that can any president end its own party's government? He said surely not."

We can go to last limit to have the supremacy and powers of the parliament in the country, he added.

It was the result of the public's efforts that today there is democracy in the country and the judiciary is independent, he added.

We need to strengthen the democratic system in the country and to ensure the good governance collectively because the country cannot afford any more Martial Law, he added. SAMAA
