Inaction on Democracy Charter a blunder: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that it was a blunder to not implement the Charter of Democracy and the government should have implemented it immediately.

While talking to media at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad, he said that the Committee for Constitutional Reforms will bring all political parties on board and make sure implementation of this historical contract.

The prime minister said that successful operation against militants in Malakand and South Waziristan, Aghaz-e-Huqqoq Balochistan Package, National Finance Commission Award, and transfer of powers to Gilgit-Baltistan are some important achievements.

He said that the nation is united in the war on terrorism. Gilani said that the establishment of state within state cannot be allowed. The nation will soon hear good news about 17th amendment, 58/2b, and prohibition of being elected as prime minister for third time. He said that the Constitutional Committee's recommendation will be presented in the parliament.

The prime minister said that there is no misunderstanding between the government and army. He said that for the first time Pakistan Peoples Party and the establishment have good relations with each other and the credit goes to him. The direction of national economy has been corrected and the whole nation supports democracy and democratic system. SAMAA
