ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani held separate meetings with the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday.

The meeting between General Kayani and President Zardari discussed the security situation of the country and the war against terrorism in the country.

Geneal Kayani and President Zardari also discussed the challenges faced by the country. COAS Kayani also informed President Zardari with the operational preparation of the armed forces and various other professional issues.

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani also held meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani after holding meeting with President Zardari.

The meeting between the two discussed various issues of the mutual interest.

Earlier, General Jean-Louis Georgelin, Chief of the Defence Staff, French Republic visited General Headquarters and called on Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani today, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated Wednesday.

The visiting dignitary remained with him for some time and discussed the matters of professional interest and the security situation of the region.

Earlier on arrival at General Headquarters, General Jean-Louis Georgelin, Chief of the Defence Staff, French Republic laid wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the Guard of Honour, ISPR added. SAMAA
