Good news on 17th amendment soon: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Accountability Bill will be presented in the parliament and the nation will hear good news about the 17th amendment soon.

The prime minister met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore. In the meeting that continued for around one-and-a-half hour important national and provincial matters were discussed.

The two leaders discussed the situation arising from the Supreme Court ruling on NRO. The prime minister and Punjab chief minister also considered ways to make accountability process transparent and neutral.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that the Committee for Constitutional Reforms is busy in its work whereas political parties are bing involved in consultation on Accountability Bill.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the reconciliation policy of the government is commendable. He briefed the prime minister on security measures taken during Muharram-ul-Harram.

The prime minister said that all resources should be used to maintain peace in the province. The prime minister left for Islamabad after the meeting. SAMAA
