Staff Report:
PESHAWAR: The Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that it is the responsibility of the federal government to provide security to the citizen of Peshawar city, adding that the government is doing so.
“The army operation is against the terrorists and not is against the tribal people. Our military has defeated the terrorists. They are on run.”
He said that security forces have held over 2000 terrorists in NWFP. He also said that the government has warned illegal Afghan refugees to leave the country immediately.
Malik said that his Peshawar visit was meant to obey the orders of the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to review the prevailing situation of the province.
“We should give our priority to our national interest rather than to our own interests. The government has asked Afghanistan government to take serious steps against terrorist supporting elements in Pakistan,” he added. SAMAA
